Himegami has red hair which is tied in two braids with two ribbons in the front and grey eyes. He is always wearing a mask and tries to tell Nagi to call him "Princess God". He wears a butler's uniform.
From the way Nagi and Maria spoke of him, it was hinted that he quit due to a problem related to Nagi's personality traits. Neither Nagi nor Maria seem to want to elaborate on his departure. He wrote a book on how a butler can acquire a one-hit kill technique, but later Nagi burnt the book (due to jealousy of Hayate mentioning Hinagiku). Maria addresses him with the title "-kun", which means he is probably around Hayate and Maria's age.
In episode 34 of the anime, he makes his appearance, but with his face obscured by shadows. He returns once more in episode 38 wearing a mask. In episode 39 his face is fully shown. In the anime, it is stated that he was fired from his position rather than him personally resigning, and it is implied that it is partially because he always hits Nagi back after she would hit him, because she won't listen to his advice to defeat the ungrateful heathens. He also insists that he be called "Princess God" (in english) rather than Himegami, which is a direct translation of his surname. He claims that he will one day save the world and used Hayate to get the gold butler uniform, one of 3 more he is seeking to get the legendary god butler dragon (this plot was not explored any further in the anime for unknown reasons).
He is seen holding a banana in the second opening of Hayate No Gotoku!.
Before the tankōbon versions release Himegami originally made a brief appearance on the bottom panel at the end of Chapter 146 but was later taken out and replaced with the panel of Hayate and Nagi holding hands.
